Greetings and Salutations
Welcome to NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007 (EHM07). If only you knew what you were getting yourselves into. This game will rock your understanding of the word depth. In fact, if you are planning to manage an NHL team anytime soon, you should probably play this game as practice. The meticulous detail SEGA packs into EHM07 makes it amazingly lifelike. In fact, the game lets you micromanage so much, it is probably beyond lifelike, like several lives all at the same time; and every decision has its consequence. Don’t worry about not getting to play with your favorite team, there are 3,000 teams and 20 playable leagues to pick from. You’ll be in charge of everything from the players and staff, to the in-game tactics, and even individual players' tactics. And with the 2D game simulator, you can watch very realistic real-time representations of the games, a rather satisfying reflection of your skill as a big-time Hockey Manager.

Get in the Game
Lead your team to success, and prepare them for greatness next season by scouting prospects. Hire the best staff you can find, if you can get them to pick you out of the 3,000 other teams bidding for their attention. Bargain with other teams to get the players you want, or get the best picks in the draft, and build the team of your dreams. You have 45,000 players to chose from. Discipline unruly players, but make sure to keep them happy. Put players on waivers and loan them out to other teams, or put them on the block if you don’t think they have what it takes. Of course, you will have the opinions of your coaches and trainers to help you along, but the ultimate decision is yours. With incredibly detailed recommendations from your scouts you’ll know who to fight for and who to ignore. Coach your games and set your tactics: pick who takes the face-offs, man or zone defense, player aggression, puck pressure, and much more. And it’s your job at stake if your team isn’t winning. These are but a few out of the throng of choices you will make in EHM07. Yes, there is much to see here, much to do, and only you can say how much time to do it in.

Don’t expect an easy ride, either. This is real intelligent artificial intelligence. The other managers know what they’re doing, so tough beans if you don’t. They will get rid of players they don’t like, they will fight for the players they want, and they will make use of strategy in game to counter your choice of tactics. You constantly get mail about other teams putting players on waivers, or trading with other teams, especially at the beginning and end of the season. It’s skate or die, cut throat action when it comes to trading. You can expect to make some sacrifices if you want your team to have the best of the best, and don’t think for a second that you will ever make a trade that clearly benefits you more than the opposition, financially, or in terms of player skill. Your coach will tell you what he thinks of a trade, and the opposing general manager will let you know if he likes your trade proposal or not. Most times, not. Players also negotiate realistically. If a player knows he’s good, he’ll get cocky and turn your offer down if he thinks it’s not good enough.
