iMac Intel Dual Core 1.83 GHz (17 Inch)

Boot Camp If you read my blog from a few weeks ago, you know how impressed I was with how easy it was to install Boot Camp and get Windows XP running on your Intel Mac. Thanks to the speedy Intel Dual Core processor and a pretty decent video card, you'll find that most PC games run quite well on these machines.I tested out a few games on my Intel iMac, including Battlefield 2, Oblivion, and Half-Life 2 and all ran extremely well. I should point out that, right next to my iMac, I have a custom-built PC featuring an AMD FX 55 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA 7800 GTX graphics card. Needless to say, the PC still far outshines the Intel Mac when running PC games but the difference isn't something that will prevent users from playing PC games on their Intel Mac. I will say this, however. If you are a Mac user and you want to play PC games on your Intel Mac, the frame rates are more than adequate for most games. Just be careful with all the viruses and complications that come with putting Windows XP on your Intel Mac. Overall At $1299, the iMac Intel Dual Core 1.8 is a very good buy. It runs native apps and games at extremely good speeds. Rosetta under most circumstances works like a charm. Running PC games under Boot Camp also work, for the most part, flawlessly.The iMac also has most of the features that consumers will ever need in a computer, including a bright and crisp display, plenty of hard drive space, a dual-layer DVD burner, iSight, Front Row, Airport Extreme, Bluetooth, and plenty of ports on the back. Best of all, it comes in a small, compact, and elegant form factor, not to mention that it's also incredibly quiet. So was the move to Intel worth it? Judging from the iMac I've had the pleasure of using for nearly 2 months now…absolutely. Time will tell, of course, if the move to Intel will pay off in terms of market share. About the best complement I can give Apple and this iMac is that it just works. From the moment you plug it in, things work the way they should be. But beyond that, Apple is the only computer company in the world that knows how to make computing "exciting." If you're a Mac user and are looking to upgrade to a price friendly computer, the iMac is the perfect choice. If you are a PC user looking to dump Windows for good, look no further, the iMac is your ticket to friendly, easier, and exciting computing.
