Golden age Getting the MacBook Pro in and of itself was something special. It's the first new Mac I've gotten in years, the first laptop I've ever purchased, and it's the first Intel-powered laptop Apple decided to release. While it'll be a while before there's enough UB-powered stuff out there to make everything seamless, Rosetta does just fine for most older apps, and the stuff that is UB powered is amazingly fast.This is precluding the release of Boot Camp. My machine runs WinXP beautifully when I want it to. I can play PC-only titles like F.E.A.R. on my freakin MacBook. I can boot right back into OS X when I'm done blowing things up and do some work or whatever. Getting the MacBook was like winning a prize, and the Boot Camp announcement was like being told I'd also won 2nd and 3rd in addition to 1st. My brother calls it a Golden Age. Running OS X and WinXP on the same computer natively was a pipe dream until recently. The lines between platforms have blurred now more than ever, and I'm positive things are just going to get more interesting from here. Check out Parallels and what it's capable of – I see it as a sign of things to come. So yes, I love my MacBook Pro. I love the backlit keyboard, I think the MagSafe is a good idea, I love the blindingly bright LCD, and I love the Intel processor that allows me to dual boot into my OS of choice. And holy cow, this is just the beginning.
