The graphics are fun to look at in the meantime. The world is still extremely colorful, with the slight change that everything is now in 3D. You can zoom in to take a look at your epic heroes up close, zoom far out to get a better idea of how a large melee is faring, or just keep things at a reasonable height while creating your kingdom. The particle effects aren't quite as lavish as in the original, but there's still more than enough going on to keep you interested. The downside to this switch is that the game tends to bog down with a lot of things on screen. It doesn't become noticeable on stronger systems, but semi-recent laptops will still have issues with it.The sounds and music are also quite good. There's the usual range of music, with medieval and fantasy themes playing in the background, and almost the same exact spread of sound and voice clips to accompany the action. Tax collectors will sound off about W-2 forms, shops will create the sound of coins clinking together, monsters will groan, and heroes will yell for help while running from werewolves. The experience just feels complete, with no awkward gaps in the soundtrack. Is that enough to justify a purchase, though? There are still quite a few features missing that the original had, like a sandbox mode, the ability to continue playing after completing a mission, and the fairgrounds for hero tournaments. If Majesty 2 was Majesty and vice versa, yes. With the fact that this is a sequel though, probably not. The slowdown caused by 3D art, broken boss monsters, and inability to play non-campaign freestyle have reduced Majesty 2 to a state that only fans of hands-off strategy games will enjoy. Should these issues be addressed in a patch or expansion, however, there's no doubt you'll enjoy it. Pros: • A unique strategy experience • Expanded list of heroes • Heroic antics still entertaining • Well made sounds and music Cons: • Boss monsters can be difficult to destroy • Lack of sandbox mode • No chance to continue a level after completing a mission
