Audio is also very well done. There are a plethora of ambient sounds while you play, the pops and clicks of a camp fire, the chirps and squeaks of night critters, the growls and shouts of angry warriors, the clinking of steel armor, and many more sounds. I mentioned the abundance of video cut scenes in this game. During these sequences characters from the story speak with each other and scenes of battles take place, all complete with the sounds one would expect from a good fantasy movie. Cut scenes which include choices by your avatar are a bit different. While the game character talks, the questions or replies you choose are text on the screen. Your character doesnít speak them. This makes sense, since you already read the choice, it would seem like a waste of time to have the avatar speak the selection as well. Another nice touch is the interaction between characters in your party as you travel. You often find them chit chatting of this or that or trying to annoy one another, making them seem even more realistic.

This is a stand alone game, you donít need to pay a monthly fee to play it like many of the very popular MMORPGs that are out there. However, Bioware does let you join an online community. Add on games and the tool set havenít been ported to the MacOS X platform. This may or may not happen in the future. Currently Mac players are unable to make use of the purchasable content available for the Windows version, and as of yet Dragon Age for Mac has not been brought up to date with its Windows counterpart, making many player created add-ons unusable. TransGaming has stated that a patch is in the works and that more information about Dragon Age downloadable content will be revealed in the future. This review will be updated when new information becomes available.

UPDATE 7/21/2010: The game has been updated to version 1.03 and the Return to Ostagar DLC is now available for Macs. Additional downloadable content is also promised.

If you like good quality RPGs, definitely consider Dragon Age. It is graphically pleasing, and a lot of fun to play. The story is rich in detail and gripping enough to keep up oneís interest throughout the game. This is an excellent game and well worth the cost. Very well done Bioware and thank you very much to TransGaming for doing the work necessary to bring it to the Mac platform! This is an incredible game that will provide hours of fun even without additional downloadable content.

Pros
• Excellent graphics
• Good game play
• An intriguing story
• A true to life RPG game

Cons
• The large size of the game as well as memory requirements might be an issue for some gamers
