Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Finally finished playing this. Had some minutes here and there over the past few months, I was able to finally get through this. Both ending in Light, and in Dark sides. The Dark side ending was lame though.

Overall, good game. Lacked some direction I usually enjoy in a FPS, but it was ok enough. The story wasn't as strong as some of the other star wars genre games, but I am forgiving. I still enjoy being a jedi.

It seemed the force powers in this one were even more enhanced, easier to use, or better balanced than in Outcast. I really enjoyed the Grip force. I found myself basically getting out of many fights with dark jedi, by simply chucking them into a hole, a power conduit, or off a high ledge. Normally, they would push you if you gripped them too long, so I picked up a Grip-Flick technique with the mouse... allowing me to toss a guy with about only half a second of grip time. At this point... you need to get your mind out of the gutter!

Very satisfying hearing the screams and people flying about. I found it to be more powerful and useful than push or pull.

Anyway, the choice of different kinds of light sabers near the end was interesting. I went with dual sabers, because I'm a bit of a swordsman myself, and not so much a pole fighter (as in going with the double ended saber). And face it, one saber is just too simple.

Overall, great game. I knocked off a point because of the fairly loose and lacking story line.

Douglas Adams

I was out today doing some gift shopping for some second nieces, or step cousins, or whatever you call the children of your cousin... Anyhow, I was looking in Borders for some books, and was searching for a book I guess that is no longer in print or something, because they didn’t carry it anymore.

I was trying to find Douglas Adams' Dirt Gently series. Ended up buying them online from amazon, but that’s besides the point.

While I was looking I ran across a book of his called "The Salmon of Doubt". What? A new book from Douglas Adams? A great author, whose untimely death caused the world great grief, has written a new book?

Turns out its a book that was never finished. Rescued from his computers (Macs!), and put together and finished in memory of his great works.

So, I snagged that and am quite interested in getting into it.

Now only if I could FIND SOME DAMNED FREE TIME TO READ A BOOK IN FRONT OF THE FIRE! AAAAAAGH! Dang Tuncer has his "lets re-write MGF from the ground up!" craziness!

I noticed this book has been out for quit a while now, but it's new news to me, so I am excited.

I voted for ...

Due to the nature of this entry, I have turned off comments for OBVIOUS reasons. There is never anything anyone can ever say to make me change my mind.

Anyhow, on to what I wanted to yammer about.

I voted for absolutely no one. Why? Because I have something against choosing the lesser of two evils. I could never live with myself knowing that I willingly helped a fool. By not voting, I am helping neither in their game to win a popularity contest.

This decision came about by realizing something. No single man is going to do a lick of difference for this screwed up country, unless that one man is one heck of a perfect president. This simply will not happen with the fools we have to choose from. It will take a lot more than one person to change this country for the better. The only thing these presidents are good for, is starting wars, or making things worse.

So I figure, nothing is going to change for the better regardless which wins, so why should I put forth the effort to make sure one particular idiot makes the cut?

People can go on and on and debate all the teeny tiny little things some candidate says, or even does with body language, but will it all turn out good if that person wins? Do they ever live up to all their promises and lofty speeches from the campaigns? No, because fixing this wack country is damn near impossible.

On another note while I'm ranting, if presidential candidates were never allowed to be 'viewed' in media, only read in newspapers (no photos), then people would do a better job at picking a president. This country is too full of themselves on image, that just by looking different, or doing something different physically, will be enough for some lowlife American to either vote or vote against a candidate. Sad to say, but its the truth. Kerry's big chin frightens me! Bush's goofy ears make him look like an ape! Kerry waves his hands a lot! Bush always has this goober smile like a kid in a candy store! Bah... Get over it.

Well, I've gotten off track. So... 'nuff said.
