Worms 3D

Worms 3D has to be one of the best games released this year. While the basic idea of the game is old as gaming itself, it has never been done so perfect in three dimensions before. The basics are simple, just point and shoot, calculate for the wind, distance and whatever to hit. Sounds simple.. but you know, it's rather tricky. And fun, above all fun. This game is all about fun. Some of the weapons are completely crazy, like the homeing pigeon, old lady, or my personal favorite, the Super Sheep. And in addition to this you have some tools to help you navigate the map to get into a favourable position. Ninja ropes, parachutes and the amazing jet pack is vital tools to master to be able to vanquis your foe.

Gameplay is divided into three different types, either a normal deathmatch, challenges, or the much varied campaign mode. The challenges are tied either to a weapon or a tool, and to my utter delight, there are super sheep challenges. There are also a number of deathmatch challenges, on which you have to beat the oppsosite team within a set time to gain a medal and hopefully, a nice reward. The campaign is well varied and much fun, even is a few missions can be frustrating hard. Beating the missions fast earn you a good reward, so try practicing your skill to unlock everything in the game. The unlocked items can be maps, weapons, voices and similar.

Graphics and sound is great, it's worms in 3D, nothing else to say rally, it looks like you would think it would, and sounds liek it as well, Team17 really managed to pull this one out in the best way possible. The colorful terrain is fully destructible, and it behaves just like in the previous games. This means that you can have floating islands in the air. This surreal touch is not only visual, since it means you can't just aim at the base of a building to take out the worm on top of it. Some people might disagree with me, but I love it like it is.

Multiplayer is the absolute best way to play Worms 3D. While I'm not always much for online gaming, I will be spending a lot of time on GameRanger from now on. Worms 3D is the best game there is if you want to challange a friend or stranger alike, because no matter how bad it goes for you, or how much you outrank your opponent, it's impossible to not have fun while doing so.

If there's anything at all to complain at with this game, it is the camera. As with most 3D games, the camera can be a bit stubborn at times, but you can learn how it works, and predict it's movement, or learn to work around the shortcomins in the automatic camera movements. This is one thing that will seperate the good players from the bad. The good will never have any problems with the camera, while the bad might lose worms because of it.

To summarize my impression of Worms 3D with two words: BUY IT!!!
