Chrono Cross Review |
 |
After years of not wanting to play this for various stupid reasons (it wasn't enough like Chrono Trigger, blah blah blah), I've finally sunk myself into this game. I must say I was shocked by how awesome this reletively low budget RPG is. Everything is just good, the scenery, the battle system, the party system, the element system, it all just fits together into what is one of the finest RPGs I've ever played. The story is slow, but interesting enough that you want to keep going. But regardless of all these fun terms like Battle System and plot depth, it fulfills the most important requirement of a game: its fun! Battles are great, managing character is great without being too tedious, the sub-plots and quests you may come along are cool, and trying to get all the characters in the game in your party (I believe over 40) gives this game a shit load of replayability to boot. The only major gripe I can say about it is the standard battle music (which you'll here alot) gets somewhat annoying after awhile, but it shouldn't detract from the overall experience.

The Dangers of Ordering Used games Online
A warning-be carefull when ordering used games online. Though I've really had no problems in the past, my last order pretty much sucked. It consisted of Xenosaga and Final Fantasy 8, ordered off Gamestop.com. all discs came in crappy cardboard sleaves, and FF8 of course freezes during the opening movie, so now I've got to go through the process of returning it and waiting for a replacement copy (which isn't bad, just ordered it to replace my missing copy, not really going to play it). bleh.

Magic The Gathering:Battlegrounds |
 |
My first X-box purchase in awhile, this game is great on so many levels. Being a retired veteran of the card game, Battlegrounds has nearly everything one would want in a real-time version of the classic game. Battlegrounds allows each wizard to pick 10 spells from up to 2 differant colors, and this allows for some fast passed action, as players build up mana to play some of the bigger spells in the game. All this action takes place in various small deuling arenas, all of which are well designed and fit the setting well. The sound and music all add to an already excellent package. The game features a lengthy quest mode, along with arcade and various multi-player options, including X-box live play. All in All, a well done game, with the promise of new spells to be added through X-box live, it should garner a fair amount of replay value as well.
