Student drinks lab chemical on a dare

"A student who drank a chemical from his high school lab on a dare was recovering in a hospital, but not before a scare."

For all you kids out there...uhh...don't drink stuff before you know what is in it. This kid got lucky that he didn't kill himself. Makes you think though, are kids today just fat and stupid? Is the american education system going to hell? Read the full story at CNN.

Update On The DAMN Cell Phone

Small update on the DAMN cell phone. If you recall, the one I bought about 2 weeks ago broke. The screen inside was shattered somehow.

I called the company where I bought the phone and they said that they had sent it in for repair to LG. Seems someone else had this problem as well and there's a chance I might either get a new phone or it'll be repaired. Since it's a new phone in the market and someone else had this problem, we could be looking at a problem with the new LG phone.

Flames & Idol

How bout them Calgary Flames? Though I'm a native of Chicago and a die-hard Blackhawks fan, I live in Calgary and am rooting for the Flames, who are on the verge of making it to the Stanley Cup finals. Pretty damn cool if you consider that this team barely made the playoffs and has one of the lowest team salaries in the NHL. Plus the whole city has gotten behind them. It's been a great series so far.

After last week's vote off of LaToya London, I've decided to boycott watching American Idol. The three finalists, IMHO, are weak and un-interesting. At this point I don't care who wins, the show is a scam.

Troy

I saw Troy over the weekend and overall I thought it was a good movie. Not great, but good. Some of the dialogue, however was just awful. At one point, Helen says, "Last night was a mistake". I almost gagged on my popcorn when I heard that.

A lot of inaccuracies here and there, but what do you expect from Hollywood? Overall the fight and battle scenes were nicely done though the CGI battlescenes with thousands of warriors is getting a bit old.

But if you're in the mood for some action, Troy is a good movie to see, especially if you don't know anything about Greek Mythology.

Damn Cell Phones!

If there is one thing I hate are cell phones breaking. The other day I was returning a DVD to the video store and heard a "thump". I looked down and didn't see anything. Went into the video store, returned to the move, and came out. Next to me a car was backing out. I looked down, and there was my damn cell phone, crushed to pieces. At first I thought, "hey, there's some poor bastard's cell phone". Then I quickly realized, as I went to pick it up, that it was mine!

So, I go and buy a new cell phone. Then about a week after I bought it, I go to use it and notice the screen on the inside was shattered. How this happened, I don't know. My son hadn't played with it. It had been in the cell phone holder for days. Could the pressure from the new holder caused the screen to break inside? I returned the cell phone to where I bought it and they said they were going to send it to LG to see what they thought.

A few days later a technician from the cell phone company called and said I was wasting my time sending this in. He was sure they'd come back and tell me that I broke it by putting too much pressure on it.

Bah, now I need to go buy yet another cell phone! Eesh.
