Feral Friday: Republic Shipping, Bionicle Goes Beta

It's a double-punch of good news in this week's edition of Feral Friday:

First off, the good folks over at Feral Interactive have informed us that their long-awaited political thriller Republic: The Revolution is shipping worldwide, and should soon be on the shelves of a Mac Store Near You.

Republic: The Revolution puts players in the shoes of a charismatic leader of a rebel faction in the fledging republic of Novistrana, a country on the verge of collapse after the fall of the Soviet Union. Tired of watching your fellow countrymen living in fear and discontent as your country is mired in corruption and chaos, you vie to oust the President of the Republic... by any means necessary.

While the game was released two weeks ago to most of the globe, the US release date had to be delayed due to problems with customs. Feral explains:

After being impounded by US customs - apparently suspicions were aroused by the instruction on the back of the box to "Topple the President", and the words "Mighty Soviet Union" printed on the outside of the box - we finally managed to sneak Republic:The Revolution through security and out to distributuion in the US.
The minimum system requirements for the highly original political adventure are a 1GHz G4/G5, 512 MB of RAM, a 32 MB VRAM-equipped 3D graphics card, 1.35 Gb free hard drive space, a DVD drive, and Mac OS 10.2. And while you could wait for the game to show up at your favorite Mac reseller, why not pre-order the game from the IMG Store for $39.95 USD and have a copy of the game shipped straight to your home as soon as it enters the country? Click on the link below to order your copy.

The second piece of news from the good folks on the other side of the pond is that the family-themed, sports action/adventure game Bionicle has reached Beta, and is one step closer to being released to the masses.

The family title, based on Lego's best-selling line of toys, is aimed for the 6-12 year old range, and features a mixture of combat and puzzle-solving elements. Ranging across six distinct and diverse environments, the game's action sees players take part in a huge variety of different action-based activities, including surfing a river of molten lava and surfing down treacherous mountains ranges.

While the family game has reached the Beta stage, there has been no word yet from Feral, nor the talented programmers at Zonic on the game's system requirements or release date. Stay tuned to IMG as further news on this title develops.
