LOTR: The Return of the King Enters Beta

Following news that Command & Conquer: Generals had gone beta, Aspyr today announced that The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King has also gone into beta. According to Aspyr's Amity Lesko, the game is due to ship in early April and is currently being ported to the Mac by Beenox. Here's a bit more info on the game: One Ring to bring them all in and the darkness behind them… Based on New Line Cinema’s film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King video game will put the fate of Middle-earth™ in the hands of the gamer. In the final installment of the blockbuster movie trilogy, players must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the Crack of Doom, freeing Middle-earth™ from the clutches of the Dark Lord Sauron. The IMG Store is now taking pre-orders for the game. It is available for $48.95 and just $44.95 for IMG Pro/MacGames CD subscribers.
