Spartan Announced for Mac 7:54 AM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story
Independent game developer Slitherine, creators of the innovative strategy game Legion, have announced their latest turn-based strategy title Spartan will be brought to the Macintosh platform thanks to an agreement with the publishing house Virtual Programming. Spartan is a finalist in the 2004 Independent Games Festival and features even more massive battles, 3D-rendered terrain and many new resources and technologies: SPARTAN takes you back 2000 years to the Classical Era and allows you to play anyone of over 100 authentically researched Nations. All of the major factions are portrayed in the game from the Romans to the Persian hosts under the Great King Xerxes. Put yourself in control of one of the many successful city-states that abounded at the time and try to control the known world through a mix of research trade and naval power. Alternatively take control of Sparta, one of the most feared military machines of all time. At the age of 7 all healthy male children were sent to military school where they where trained for the next thirteen years to become soldiers, the sickly ones were simply left in the hills to die. Even then it was not until they had become seasoned veterans and racked up another 10 years military service that they became "Equals". Not surprisingly her neighbours believed that Sparta had only one aim, to train for war and to fight the wars she trained for. Are you Equal to the task? Spartan is currently still in development and no release date has been set for any platform at the moment. To find out more about the title, head over to the official website.
