Savage Chat Logs 6:00 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Bjorn3D has posted a chat-log featuring S2Games and Nvidia. The focus of the chat is S2Games' RTS/FPS hybrid Savage, which allows players to either take on the role of commander in an RTS environment or a warrior via FPS gameplay. Most of the questions deal with various gameplay features and upcoming additions, including the medic class and the issue of newbie commanders attempting to guide a group of veteran warriors. Of particular interest to Mac users should be S2Games' comments on cross-platform support: We did the Linux port because the engine was very portable to begin with, and I (slothy) have been a Linux user for many years. We did it on a whim about a year ago, and then a few weeks ago we spent a couple days getting the game running on Mac OS X. We took a lot of care to keep our engine portable when we wrote it, so porting it to other platforms was a nice test of our code portability as well as a fun thing for us to do. And obviously, we love having the game available to everyone with a PC. The rest of the chat covers topics such as upcoming tournaments, views on the lukewarm reviews Savage has received, and the addition of map packs.
