IGN Explores Fallout 3 Rumors

Mac users have for a long time enjoyed the post-apocalyptic RPG game known as Fallout, and more recently its sequel, Fallout 2. Many anxious fans, however, have been awaiting for yet another title in the franchise, due to many rumblings and rumors coming from within developer Black Isle Studios' offices. IGN has explored some of this related mentions of a new game coming from the message boards from Black Isle employees on Interplay's message board (Black Isle is the RPG division of developer Interplay), and complies them in an easy to follow list.
Here's an example, with Black Isle's J.E. Sawyer commenting on their upcoming game and currently secret title named Van Buren.
However, at the beginning of Van Buren, we sat down for a few weeks and made outlines of the various areas you could explore in the game. It was pretty damned big. So, I went back and I looked at Fallout. Fallout only had 13 areas. Fallout 2 had 23 areas. Does Van Buren really need to have 23, or even 20 areas? Personally, I think it would be better off with 15-17 very good areas than 23 really rushed areas. And if, in those 15-17 areas, you can get better gameplay balance than you would have been able to in 23 areas, I think that's a good thing. I would rather have crazed lunatic people complain that 100 hours of gameplay isn't enough than have the majority of people quit the game because the first 10 of its 300 estimated hours just suck. You can check out the compilation at the link below. If another Fallout adventure performs a suprise appearance from Black Isle's studios, you can be sure IMG will report on it and any possible Mac version. Keep checking in with IMG for more as this story develops.
Also note that you can purchase Fallout and Fallout 2 from the IMG store, with Fallout priced at $19, Fallout 2 at $29, or if you are interested in both games, a Fallout 1 and 2 bundle for $39. The games continue to be excellent examples of RPGs done right, and are certainly worth a look; you can buy them at the links below.
