MacPlay Distributing Another War 9:05 AM | Mike Apps | Comment on this story
MacPlay has announced they will be distributing the Mac version of the World War II role-playing game, Another War. This is the second game in a deal the company has worked out with British publisher Virtual Programming to bring more titles to North American soil. Another War features an interface and gameplay similar to such titles as the Baldur's Gate series, placing players in the middle of occupied France. Here's Macplay's description of Another War: Another War takes place during World War 2 in Nazi-occupied Europe. It is a colorful story of an adventurer, involved in his own private war in those darkest of times. The game has a very elaborate plot, with its own brand of lively action, style and humor. You will find many allusions to classic books and movies, like "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Allo, Allo", "Catch-22", "Saving Private Ryan", and "The Dirty Dozen" amongst others. Wanting to save his friend from the Nazis, our hero gets caught up in a bloody intrigue between the warring superpowers. The plot starts in a small town in occupied France. The only things reminding us that war is raging is the heavy presence of German gendarmerie patrols on the streets and groups of Wehrmacht soldiers on leave occupying the local cafes. However, the finale takes place in the hell of an under siege Leningrad where our hero stumbles upon one of the most secretly guarded projects run by both Soviet and German engineers. The requirements for Another War are:- G3 350 MHz or faster
- 128 MB RAM
- Quick Time 5 (installed automatically if required)
- Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2 with virtual memory
- 200MB of free memory
- Mac OS X 10.1 or higher
Another War is currently at Gold Master status, and should be shipping soon. For more information on the game, follow the links provided below and watch for a preview from IMG soon.
