Apple Examines Fallout 2, Adds Wipeout 2097 Trailer 8:49 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Apple has added yet another feature to its Games area, this one focusing on the post-nuclear RPG Fallout 2. Published by MacPlay and ported by The Omni Group, Fallout 2 carries many accolades and has been highly anticipated by many a Mac gamer due to its unique spin on RPGs, due in no small part to its heavy atmosphere: Fallout 2 sets itself apart from other role-playing games in several ways. “Very few RPGs are based in science-fiction,” notes Price. “This allows the game to be more true to [modern] life. You can see how [elements of the plot] could really happen in a post-nuclear world.” Henry Price of MacPlay also notes that Fallout 2 boasts a much simpler set of rules than those used in more traditional RPGs, making the game more accessible to all. Also commented on is the soon-to-be published follow-up title Fallout Tactics, which gives players the opportunity to wage tactical warfare either by themselves or against online opponents with a force of up to six characters. The rest of the feature covers more backstory and adds a survival guide, complete with enemies, weapons, and tips on how to stay alive. In related news, Apple has also released a splash page of Wipeout 2097, complete with a trailer showing off the game's finer points.
