Apple Analyzes AvP2 6:00 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
A new article has been posted in Apple's Games section, looking at another of MacPlay's much-anticipated OS X titles, Aliens versus Predator 2. Many fans of the original Aliens versus Predator loved the title's three-way gameplay between Marines, Aliens, and the Predator character types. Aliens versus Predator 2 looks to bring more of this great gameplay back, along with much improved graphics, a thrilling singleplayer mode, and many multiplayer options for internet play. MacPlay president Mark Cottam explains the reasoning for the OS X only title: “We had originally planned on Aliens vs. Predator 2 being released for both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9,” explains MacPlay president Mark Cottam, “but when we started the porting process it quickly became apparent that Mac OS X was the only way to go. “MacPlay has made a commitment to supporting Mac OS X,” he continues, “and porting the game to Mac OS X only allows us to release the finest product that we can. The OS allows us to create a more graphically robust game as well as flawlessly manage memory issues.” Along with the usual rundown of features, the article also gives some history of the title, selected cheats, as well as suggested hardware requirements:- Mac OS X version 10.1.4 or higher
- 350MHz Power Macintosh G3
- 128MB of RAM
- 3D video card with 8MB of memory
Head over now for the full scoop on Aliens versus Predator 2, and look for the game to be released for OS X later this year.
