An IMG reader recently let us know about a new game currently in development that has a chance of making it to the Mac platform. Titled Cold War and currently in development by Mindware Studios, the game is strongly reminiscent of titles such as Metal Gear Solid and seems to feature gameplay centered around stealth, gadgets, and exploration.

Chaser Jones, the protagonist of the story, is an American journalist chasing stories in the USSR at the height of the Cold War. Stumbling across a plot to sabotage the Chernobyl nuclear plant, he eventually uncovers an even larger conspiracy.

Among its features are stealth-based play, various weapons, and an interactive environment that can offer several solutions to a single problem:

The player can use the surrounding environment to his advantage. If he doesn't succeed in slipping past security cameras, he has to try disabling them. If he has a pick, he can break a lock and open up a safer route for himself. If he knows that the enemy is approaching via elevator, he can attempt to block it. The player has the chance to look for alternative routes - by jumping across roofs, sneaking through ventilation shafts, or balancing on ledges.
While the primary platform is currently Windows-based PCs, the site notes that "thanks to its high portability, we intend to also support Linux and Mac OS X operating systems."

Those interested in screenshots as well as more information can find it at the official Cold War site.
