Gamers.com has posted a brief preview of Ritual Entertainment's upcoming title, Star Trek: Elite Force 2, the latest game in the extended franchise. The author of the preview points out that, though many Star Trek based games are not of the highest quality, EF2 should live up to the good reputation of its predecessor.
Elite Force 2 will differ from the first go 'round in several key areas. In this installment, the "Voyager" name has been dropped from the title, as the game now takes place after the conclusion of that TV series. Players will find themselves spending time at Starfleet Academy before serving aboard the USS Enterprise E, under the command of none other than Captain Jean-Luc Picard himself.
Some of the more significant improvements in EF2 are discussed in the preview. Here's a sample:
If things go according to plan, team AI will be much improved over the previous game. You'll have some new and better weapons to give team members, as well as a beefed-up tricorder that will give you all kinds of nifty battlefield info. It's a short preview, but an interesting one. There are also some good screenshots included. Follow the link below to read more.
The plot has also seen some big changes. Instead of being purely linear, the story will branch out at key points. You'll have certain choices when it comes to how you pass through an area or beat an enemy, and losing teammates will also have an effect on future developments.
