Avernum 3 Released 6:00 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Spiderweb Software recently sent word that Avernum 3 has been released. A title that hearkens back to the days of old-school RPGs, Avernum 3 continues the Avernum series' retelling of Spiderweb's classic Exile games, but with many new features: Spiderweb Software, a maker of fantasy role-playing games for Windows and Macintosh, announces the release of Avernum 3, the final game in the Avernum trilogy. Avernum 3 features an enormous scenario, with well over 100 towns, villages and dungeons. There is a fascinating story and a dynamic world which changes as time passes. Refugees move from town to town. People die. If nothing is done, towns will crumble into dust. Avernum 3 features an open-ended gameplay mechanic that gives players great freedom in influencing the game world. Players can choose to be heroes or merchants, caring or indifferent, all of which will effect the game's direction.Plenty of Mac gamers should be able to run this title as well, due to its low system requirements, which include a PowerPC Mac, 16MB RAM, and 16 bit color. It currently runs in OS X only under Classic mode, but an OS X native version is currently planned for a late Summer 2002 release. More information on this title, including screenshots and a downloadable demo, are available at Spiderweb's official Avernum 3 website.
