GamesFirst Previews Elite Force II 6:00 AM | Seth Scott | Comment on this story
Aaron Stanton at GamesFirst has written a preview of Elite Force II, due to be released for the PC by Ritual Entertainment (rather than by Raven Software, developers of original Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force). The sequel features action in multiple locations, including Starfleet headquarters and even the starship itself. Here is an excerpt from the article: It’s been a while since I last played Activision’s Elite Force, which to this day is still the reigning champion as the best Star Trek game ever made.... It was to my great joy when I heard the fellow at Activision’s booth confess that Elite Force II would be taking place, at least partially, in the Next Generation. ...You’ll once again find yourself in the role of Ensign Monro, a part of the Hazard Team, a special combat unit put together on the Voyager to deal with threats that less skilled rookies would probably bungle. ... Romulans, the pointy-eared Vulcan siblings without the "live long and prosper" mantra, are set to make an appearance for sure, as well as a variety of others that will no doubt be unusual and interesting in their appearance and politics. When it boils down to it, this is a first person shooter, so we can expect whatever benevolent plans the Enterprise may have to pretty much go to crap. Carnage will ensue. It’ll be fun. Trust me. The article also includes a gallery of thumbnail screenshots.Elite Force II is due in winter 2002 for the PC. The game has no official Macintosh port in progress as yet, but we'll keep our eyes open for any news on the possibility.
