Trine 2 Previewed 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
GameSpy has published a new preview of Frozenbyte's upcoming Trine 2. The new title will once again center around the adventures of knight, thief, and wizard heroes as they work to solve physics based puzzles and unravel an epic mystery. From the preview: But Trine 2 isn't just a pretty face. It's got personality as well. The gameplay mechanics that lurk beneath the surface of this deceptively simple platformer are what make the game really shine. Just like the LittleBigPlanet series, Trine 2 has a fairly robust physics engine, which players can manipulate and exploit in order to solve puzzles. In the beta's available levels, this generally involves using magic to roll boulders, lift boxes, or alter the flow of water. While none of these puzzles are particularly difficult to solve, it does serve to make the game a far more interesting experience than your usual run n' jump platformer. What's more, the beta only includes the very first levels of the game… and one can except that the difficulty level of the full release will be far more taxing.Trine 2 also features a number of noticeable improvements over its predecessor. For instance, one of the most annoying aspects of the original game was the wizard's mana bar, which would continually shrivel up to nothing, and force you to back-track to a previous checkpoint in order to regenerate your mana stocks. Thankfully, in Trine 2, our magician now has unlimited magical abilities, meaning you can lift, drop and rotate boxes to your heart's content. Read the full preview at the page below.
