Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of The Legend of Crystal Valley from Sandlot Games. The adventure game puts players in the role of Eve, a young woman who must unravel the mystery of her estranged father's disappearance while exploring the fantasy world of Crystal Valley. Here's an excerpt from the review: Crystal Valley is loaded with sounds both ambient and from a melodious musical soundtrack. In some areas special short melodies or sound effects can be heard. These sounds help define the surreal atmosphere this game creates. I truly enjoyed the background music and feel it enhanced the experience of the game world. The melodies or effects are short and continually repeat while in that zone, which in a couple of cases, I found very annoying. Annoying enough that I actually brought the volume to zero when interacting in these areas. Luckily this happened only a couple of times. In complete contrast to those areas I couldn’t stand, there were some where the melody was so appealing that I returned to it just to listen again! Puzzles are challenging without being daunting. Generally the components needed to solve a puzzle can be found in the zone that you are currently in. If you didn’t manage to pick up some necessary item there is a way to get back to do it. Some examples of puzzle actions include interacting with an object in the environment using an item from the inventory, pressing a sequence of buttons, using switches or dials to open or unlock a door or some other item, or finding the pieces necessary to build a map, diagram or suit of armor. Objects can be hidden pretty well or might not be available until after you help someone. Click over to the link below to read the full review.
