IMG Reviews The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition from LucasArts and Aspyr Media. The game is a "reimagining" of the original 1990 title, updated with contemporary art, remastered music, full voiceover, and a new hint system. Here's an excerpt from the review: If you are a little leery about playing an 8-Bit game, however, you don't need to worry. One of the main improvements over the original game is an increased resolution, remastered sprites, and a lush set of backgrounds that look much better than the pixelated screens of the original. This has even allowed you to see a closer look of the characters, like Meathook, that you had to imagine before based on a sprite of under a few dozen pixels. It has definitely enriched the experience quite a bit. The sounds and music have also been improved greatly. All the music tracks are improved, the sounds are crisp and clear, and all the dialogue is now both read, and read by professionals. One of the strengths of all the modern Lucasarts games is the quality of their voice actors, and that definitely shines in SM:SE. From the insulting French acrobats to the slightly depressed ghost crew sergeant, all the voices are excellent and a welcome addition to the game. Click on the link below to read the full review.
