Feral Interactive has announced that Rome: Total War Gold Edition will be coming to Mac users on February 5th. Originally developed by The Creative Assembly and published by SEGA, the game will be released for the Mac under the Feral Legends label.

In Rome: Total War players take charge of one of three Roman families with the goal of increasing their family's power in Rome through diplomacy, economic skill, and war. The Gold Edition includes the original strategy title as well as the Barbarian Invasion expansion.

“The Total War series is one of the most-requested additions to Mac gaming,” said Feral Interactive’s David Stephen. “It’s a game that is superbly suited to the platform and one that will be available to all Mac owners including those with Intel MacBooks and Mac minis.”

"The Creative Assembly is delighted that Mac users will now have the opportunity to experience Rome: Total War and Barbarian Invasion" says Mike Simpson, Creative Director at The Creative Assembly, "We hope that these players will appreciate the strategy that Total War has to offer as much as our existing community."

“We are delighted to see that the Total War series has made it on to the Mac,” said Mike Simpson, studio director at Creative Assembly.

Running from the late Roman Republic to early Roman Empire with campaigns ranging across Europe and North Africa, Rome: Total War offers a seamless integration of strategy and tactics that allows players to fight epic historical or fictitious battles, while plotting their path to ultimate victory.

The Gold Edition includes the official expansion pack, Barbarian Invasion. Set some 300 years later, in it players must decide whether they will save Rome from its enemies or, at the head of a Barbarian horde, fight to bring the once mighty Empire to its knees.
Minimum system requirements for Rome: Total War Gold Edition call for a 1.6GHz Intel Mac with 512MB RAM, 128MB graphics card, DVD drive, 5 GB of hard disk space and Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later including Mac OS X v10.6. The game supports Macs with Intel GMA processors.

The game will retail in North America for US $29.95, £19.95 (inc VAT) in the UK, and €24.95 (inc VAT) throughout Europe. It is currently available to pre-order.
