IMG Reviews 4 Elements 7:00 AM | Marcus Albers | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the latest casual title from developer Playrix, the match-3 variant 4 Elements. Combining elements from games such as Jewel Quest, Cradle of Rome, and various hidden-object games, 4 Elements creates a unique take on the genres. Here's an excerpt from the review: As I alluded to earlier, this is no ordinary Bejewelled or Jewel Quest-style game. The aim instead is to open a path for a fluid to travel along so that it reaches a goal some distance away. The game area is divided into jewel-covered squares of 'ground', and that ground must be cleared by matching the jewels lying on top of it. As you match jewels, new ones appear to fill their spaces, so you can never run out of potential matches. If you match just three or four jewels (three being the minimum), the earth under just those jewels clears, but if you can make longer chains of five or more, the jewels are cleared with more power and produce a small explosion at the end of the chain. The longer the chain you can make, the bigger the explosion it finishes with, and the more ground you can clear at once. Follow the link below to read the full review.
