Bugdom Ships... For Windows?? 9:54 AM | Michael Eilers | Comment on this story
This isn't exactly Mac gaming news, but the occurrence of a Mac-only game being ported to the PC is so rare it deserves a remark or two. Yes, you read the headline correctly: Pangea Software's charming adventure title Bugdom has been released for Windows, ported by On Deck Interactive. Gathering of Developers will be the publisher, and they note on their web site that the game should be in stores for PC users very soon.
This certainly seem to be a mixed blessing. Bugdom is a well-done game and one that deserves the widest audience possible, so this is an excellent deal for Pangea that most likely means a goodly amount of extra revenue. However, Bugdom was also one of Apple's 'showcase' titles used to demonstrate their iMac and iBook hardware; now the store salesman can no longer claim that you have to buy a Mac to play that adorable game with the bugs and ants.
For Pangea's sake, we hope the ports don't stop at mere Windows versions -- Bugdom is a natural console title, if we've ever seen one. But we have to admit we did feel a twinge of regret at seeing a Mac-exclusive title step over to the Dark Side.
If you've never played Bugdom, you've missed a dazzling, original and fun gaming experience. Be sure and grab the demo and take it for a spin.
