MacSoft has announced the release of Atari Arcade Classics. The pack includes moderized 3D version of classic coin-op favorites including Breakout, Centipede, and Pong. This is the first time these classic games are available for Mac OS X. Here's more from the press release: In Breakout, you must help Bouncer rescue his girlfriend Daisy from the evil Batnix and his henchmen! Nothing will stand in your way as you use your paddle to break out of dozens of highly addictive levels. Share the fun with up to four people as you visit ancient Egypt, historic castles, distant space, and hencoops on the farm in off the wall fun. Defend the Wee village against those pesky centipedes, spiders, scorpions, fleas, and other garden nuisances in Centipede. You can embark on an adventure to destroy the Queen ‘Pede and save Weedom on your own, or join forces with a friend to begin a two-player adventure on the same machine. Pong, the classic from 1972, is back with a whole new level of 3D graphics. Strive to become the Pong master as you battle for victory in each addictive zone or play against three other players in endless multiplayer environments. “Each game in Atari Arcade Classics gives you a nostalgic game redone in a whole new way,” said Al Schilling, general manager of MacSoft. “This collection makes for great family fun and we’re delighted to make it available in time for the holidays.” Centipede and Breakout require a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X v10.1.5 or higher, 400MHz or faster processor, 256MB RAM, 16MB video card, and a CD-ROM drive. An internet or LAN connection is required for on-line play. Pong requires Mac OS X v10.2.8.Atari Arcade Classics is now available for purchase through the IMG Store for $18.95.
