X-Plane 8 Updated
10:19 AM | Conrad Quilty-Harper | Comment on this story

Laminar Research has released an update for its most important project, X-Plane. This update is the first public update since the release of X-Plane 8.01 (version 8 was never officially released). According to Austin Meyer, the creator of X-Plane, this update has several major performance improvements.

Here's what Austin had to say about the update on the X-Plane site:

SO WHAT IS NEW IN X-PLANE 8.02 SINCE 8.01?

Lower load times, lower RAM requirements, and higher frame-rates.

Compared to 8.01, load times are DOWN by about 10%
Compared to 8.01, framerate is UP by about 75%! (not a typo! this is on a G5)
Compared to 8.01, RAM use is DOWN by about 10%

The full 216MB download for X-Plane version 8.02 beta 1 is available at Macgamefiles.com on the link below.
