Atari Interactive has announced that a sequel to BioWare's highly popular role-playing game Neverwinter Nights is coming. The development of the game will be handled by Obsidian Entertainment, a company that contains several members from the now disbanded Black Isle Studios.
Neverwinter Nights is one of the most popular modern RPGs, due to the ease of which users can create and share their own modules. The Neverwinter Nights community has created over 4000 modules and several more are coming. Based on Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons 3.0 core rules, Neverwinter Nights and its two expansions include a creative field of epic proportions for the fans to exploit.
Neverwinter Nights 2 is scheduled for release in 2006, and while no word is out on a Mac version, we can only cross our fingers hoping that this title will make it to our beloved platform.
