Is Call of Duty, the highly-anticipated World War II first-person shooter, on the way for the Macintosh? According to an Infinity Ward employee, there is a Mac version "in the pipeline." The employee made the informal announcement on's web site forum late last week. The employee went on to say, "I think Macs are cool. Growing up right next to Apple leaves me with a certain nostalgia for them. Competition is a good thing."

Call of Duty is being developed by 22 former employees from the team that brought us the best-selling WW II first-person shooter, Medal of Honor. Call of Duty, also set in WW II, will feature squad-based missions that include authentic squad movements and tactics such as covering fire and pulling wounded to safety. Call of Duty captures the war from multiple perspectives, through the eyes of American, British and Russian soldiers. All in all there are 24 missions spanning 4 interconnected historical campaigns. Take on mission objectives ranging from sabotage and all-out assault to stealth, vehicle combat and rescue.

The PC version of Call of Duty is slated to ship on October 30th. As for the Mac version, we'll have to wait for an official announcement.
