Gamespot Posts Half Life 2 Developer Interview

Despite the unfortunate news that the Half-Life 2 source code was recently stolen from the Valve servers, and that the game's release has recently been postponed, the powerful machine that is PR pushes onwards, and we're here to tell you about it.

PC gaming mega-site Gamespot is now hosting a new interview with Valve's founder and managing director Gabe Newell regarding his company's hot new sequel. The new interview covers a multitude of topics, including game specifics, development issues, and the game's new release date. Originally intended for a September 30th release, the game has now been slated for a holiday-season release:

GS: Everybody wants to know when Half-Life 2 will be in stores. What can you say about the release date?

GN: I hate release dates because no matter how hard we try, we screw them up. We held back talking about our release date going into September 30 because I wanted to have a much clearer idea of what day we were going to ship on.

Right now all we can say is holidays of this year, which to me feels really unfortunate. Our customers really want to know. They say, "Tell us what the date is going to be," and that's what they want to hear. They're fine with what the date is; they just want to know so they can plan accordingly.

Right now it's for the holidays. I wish we had a clearer date to give people at this time.

While a Mac version of this hotly-debated game has not been confirmed, many of us here at IMG have a hunch that this title might have a better chance at making it to our favourite platform than its predecessor. We'll keep you posted with news on this game as it gets released.
