Freeverse Reveals Solace 9:45 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
Freeverse Software has issued forth another edition of their MontyMail company newsletter, full of information about their many games, jokes, and even recipies. In this version of MontyMail the company also reveals a new cross-platform strategy title in the works called Solace. Solace is a turn-based strategy game which looks to be based on the classic gameplay of Risk. A small screenshot is included, and the company notes the game will feature online play as well. Here's an excerpt from the newsletter: It's a turn-based game of strategy that you can play solo, online in real time, or by e-mail against foes from around the world! There's no diplomacy in this game. Build up a military and sic it on your enemy, because you know they're trying to do the same to you! This game is going to ship sooner than you think, and we'll have a lot more to show you in the next issue. Oh, and one last detail: This game is for both Windows and Macintosh! For more on Solace and the rest of Freeverse happenings, be sure to check out this issue of MontyMail.[Update] Freeverse's Jason Whong writes in to say it's not necessary to be considered a Risk clone, "because of the various unit types, and their differing roles in offense and defense." Stay tuned for much more on Solace in the coming weeks.
