More News on Radiant for Mac OSX 9:54 AM | Jean-Luc Dinsdale | Comment on this story
Further to our report last week that an OS X version of the Quake 3 map editor GtkRadiant is in the works, game design tools creators Radiant announced on Monday new updates for their flagship project. While the updates affect only the Linux and Windows versions of the editor, Radiant insider Timothee Besset had some interesting news regarding the upcoming Mac version: There is also an experimental setup for the next major GtkRadiant release for Linux (1.3). You shouldn't see much external changes, but it's a much cleaner and powerful internal architecture. As usual with major releases, you can have the 1.3 stuff installed without breaking your existing 1.2 installation. We don't have 1.3 setups for win32 and OSX yet. The Linux 1.3 setup is a first step on the road to putting out an OSX setup, so that's what got done first. A win32 1.3 setup should follow soon. If all works out, Mac Quake 3 fans won't have to wait much longer to start designing levels for id Software's blockbuster title. Stay tuned to IMG for more news as it unfurls.
