MSWF: More Unreal Tournament 2003 Info 6:00 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
As Mac gamers are no doubt aware, Epic's FPS Unreal Tournament 2003 has made its public Mac debut at this year's MWSF. The event, which has been described by developers as "a giant public beta test," has plenty of people fired up about this title. So, just for you, IMG did some more digging on UT2003 and managed to come up with some more info. First off, to answer the number one question, a demo has been confirmed. As to its release, they're currently hoping to release it sometime before the actual title ships, although this is not for certain. As to the actual title release, a firm date has yet to be nailed down, though they are shooting for a Q1 2003 release. Unfortunately, UT2003 will not feature SMP or FSAA support (though this could be worked-around by an ATI control panel enabling FSAA). Do keep in mind that SMP (multiprocessor) support is not possible unless the PC version has it as well. In a bit of good news, however, an attempt will be made to lower the system requirements for this title as development proceeds apace. We'll be bringing more information on this title as we get it.
