Chariots: The First Olympics Announced 8:13 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Candella Software has recently announced their intention to develop Chariots: The First Olympics for the Mac. Also planned for the PC, Linux, and multiple gaming consoles, Chariots takes as its backdrop the age of the first Olympics in ancient Greece, with chariot racing being the prime event of the day. Some of the gameplay features are as follows: - Choose from among eight different charioteers, both men and women, each with their own unique abilities
- Eight different chariot models with different handling characteristics
- Race through the countryside of the ancient Hellenic world. Race tracks which plunge from soaring snowbound mountains to verdant Grecian meadows and meander through undulating deserts.
- Marvel at the beauty of ancient monuments like the Lighthouse of Pharos, Temple of Zeus, Acropolis and the Giza pyramids.
Planned graphic and sound features include vertex and pixel shader support, volumetric shadows, use of TruForm/N-patches, and EAX support. Chariots will also support up to eight players in multiplayer internet matches. Those interested in more information, including screenshots and a community forum, can find all at Planet Chariots.
