Italian Macintosh web site is reporting that Virtual Programming is developing a Carbon patch for WipeOut 2097, the popular racing game originally developed by Psygnosis for the Sony PlayStation and ported to the Mac by Virtual Programming. The new patch will allow users to run the game natively under Mac OS X.

According to the web site, the Carbon version also includes some dramatic speed increases and OpenGL enhancements (for example, trilinear filtering and lens flares).

The patch is currently in beta and will be available as a free download sometime next week. Be on the lookout for a review of Wipeout 2097 on IMG soon.
