Neverwinter Nights Interview

Voodoo Extreme has posted an interview with BioWare joint CEO Greg Zeschuk regarding progress on Neverwinter Nights, the upcoming role-playing game based on the third edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rule set.

The game is currently scheduled to be released this summer and will be published by Infogrames. BioWare has also been working on a Mac version, although there is no indication at this point who will publish it.

Here's a snippet from the interview:

VE: Why the bump up in memory to 96 MB for the windows version of the game and can Linux and Mac users expect a similar revision in the system specs?

Zeschuk: The increased memory requirement was a function of having a better idea on the content of the game.  There is just so much stuff in Neverwinter Nights that we needed a little more space to work with.  And while I believe memory is pretty cheap these days we're still well under the requirements for many other games.  We're still working out the memory requirements on the other formats.

VE: Last question: What's the most amazing thing about Neverwinter Nights that you won't see in any other game in the universe (regardless of genre, platform, etc)?

Zeschuk: The most amazing thing about Neverwinter Nights is just how fast you can actually build something tangible and then play it!  The next most amazing thing is how many 'games' Neverwinter Nights really is: an epic and compelling single-player story-based RPG, a rich co-op story-based RPG, a world-building game, a dungeon master simulator, and even a multiplayer game with PVP, CTF and other kinds of crazy game modes.  Neverwinter has got so much it still surprises us every time we play it.
