Coldstone Final Candidate in Testing

A quick note to the progress logs at Ambrosia Software tells that the Coldstone game engine for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Windows is now at the Final Candidate stage. This means that if testing doesn't find any show-stopping bugs in the current version, it will be released.

Dee Brown of Beenox has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on Coldstone while simultaneously releasing the Windows version of its first title, Pillars of Garendall, as well as its expansion plug-in Trinity. While PoG is the engine's flagship game, Beenox and Ambrosia stress its not just for fantasy RPGs. Here's a clip from the recently redesigned Beenox web site:

Coldstone is a role playing game construction kit that offers unprecedented power and ease of use, allowing you to create professional, stand-alone games that are limited only by your imagination. Unhindered by the complex details that Coldstone handles for you, your fantasy world will spring to life as quickly as you can dream it up.

Any genre of game can be created: fantasy, sci-fi, modern, western gunslinging - whatever you can dream up! Coldstone isn't designed to just make just one style of game; in fact a space adventure game with ships and planets could easily be done: Coldstone is that flexible.

For more information on Coldstone, check out both the Ambrosia and Beenox sites. We'll keep you posted once this powerful editor is finally available for mass consumption.
