Tony Hawk Swipes an Eddy 6:00 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Macworld has announced the results of this year's Editors' Choice Awards. Affectionately known as the "Eddy," this award is given to all manner of Mac products released between November 2000 and November 2001, and symbolizes both exceptional quality and creativity.
In the Games category, top honors this year were given to Aspyr Media's popular sports title Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2:
Fast-moving action, sharp-looking 3-D graphics, and Mac OS X compatibility right out of the box vault it into the rarefied air of top Mac games. Throw in multiplayer gaming, a skate-park editor, and other customizable features, and you've got a game that keeps on rolling as others fall by the wayside. Honorable mentions were given to Escape from Monkey Island, yet another title in the Aspyr stable, and MacSoft's teeth-gritting action game Rogue Spear. Monkey Island's combination of slick graphics and trademark humor made it a strong runner-up, and Rogue Spear's popularity with the online crowd assured that it wasn't forgotten.
IMG congratulates both Aspyr and MacSoft for placing in this year's Eddy Awards. A special mention goes out to Westlake Interactive for their excellent work in porting both Tony Hawk 2 and Monkey Island to the Mac.
