NVIDIA Looks for Mac Driver Tester 1:07 PM | IMG News | Comment on this story
PC graphics chip maker NVIDIA, who has long promised to enter the Mac OS market to some degree, has posted a job listing on the Mac-oriented iDevGames web site. This full-time position is for an End User Support Engineer, and requires a move to Santa Clara, CA. Here is the listing in full: Job Description
Work closely with End Users, software, hardware, test, sales and marketing to verify, log and track customer reported issues in a highly innovative 3D graphics environment. Provide timely and professional communication to customers. Test customer specific configurations to ensure compatibility with standard and high-end GUI applications, games, TV output, and video.
Required Skills
Solid understanding of PC's at the component level. Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting device drivers (especially graphics) on Win9x, NT, 2000, Linux or Mac. Good communications skills are essential. 2+ years customer support or software test experience desirable. Knowledge of or interest in 3D, OpenGL, and DirectX technologies a plus.
Job Location
Santa Clara, CA
Position Type
Full-Time/Regular
We've known for some time that NVIDIA has been quietly acquiring Mac-savvy staff members, and this is not the first job posting we have seen listed. However, none of the Mac engineers from the recently-disbanded driver team at 3dfx have had offers as of yet. In any case, NVIDIA's movement onto the Mac platform seems inevitable at this point. The only question is when -- and we are fairly sure that this question will be answered in just a few weeks, at Macworld Expo San Francisco.
