GarageGames has announced an update to their Torque Game Engine Advanced (TGEA). Version 1.8 adds an OpenGL graphics implementation and support for Mac OSX. Other features now available to Mac users include advanced material systems, procedurally generated shaders, and integrated real-time editors.

GarageGames has reached a major milestone, just in time for the holidays. Our flagship Torque Game Engine Advanced is now out with a brand new OpenGL implementation for the graphics API and with platform support for Mac. Developers using TGEA 1.8 can now work with the same technology that GarageGames uses to provide Mac-compatible versions of popular games on InstantAction such as Fallen Empire: Legions, Rokkitball, and Marble Blast Online. And the upgrade is completely free to current owners.

Now everything you've come to know and love about TGEA is on a Mac, including:
Procedurally Generated Shaders - Procedural generation of shaders support normalmapping, detail maps, specular, cubemapping, glow, refraction, reflection, texture UV animation, and more.
Custom Materials - A powerful custom shader interface allows easy integration of custom shaders and effects. Also included are exclusive fallback hooks that allow full control over how a custom material looks on all hardware platforms.
GFX2 Power - We've revamped TGEA's C++ graphics API with new features and faster rendering, and now it all works on the Mac. TGEA still includes features like full screen anti-aliasing and support for non-shadered video cards. You can deploy your games to a much wider audience and trust that it will "just work."
MegaTerrains - Our MegaTerrains system allows you to create enormous worlds, built upon our powerful Terrain editing system.
Polysoup Collision - Now Mac users can take advantage of OPCODE Polysoup Collision. Quickly drop in your mesh objects and levels and get up and running with them in no time.
SFX Sound System - TGEA's updated sound system comes with complete tools for using sound in games via OpenAL, and now with a new C++ API and FMOD implementation, you can choose from a variety of 3rd party solutions as well.
Mission Editor - The Mission Editor is fully integrated with the Torque runtime and provides full access to all Torque subsystems allowing for asset importation, object placement, property editing, and terrain manipulation.
Torque Build System - Our Project Generator makes it easy for you to coordinate with team members all over the world by generating up-to-date project files.
