Rand Miller Talks Myst Online: Uru Live 7:31 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments
RPG Vault has posted an interview with Rand Miller about Myst Online: Uru Live, the online continuation of the popular Myst series. Miller discusses Uru Live's unique gameplay and the technology behind the game. Jonric: How important are various types of items such as equipment and money? Is there an in-game economy? Rand Miller: No currency, no transactions, no trading, no economy. When those elements are included in a game, they begin to take a central gameplay role. That's not what Myst Online is about. Jonric: Can we expect to see encounter many NPCs in Myst Online, and what kinds of roles do they fulfill? Rand Miller: We have a unique take on characters in the game. They are PCs instead of NPCs. Our characters are played by real people who can hold a conversation with you, answer questions, give their opinions and engage players as part of the story. Instead of being just "vending machines" for weapons or quests, our characters are real people with personalities and opinions, and when you meet them, it's an event, not just a side note.
