Entertainment Consumers Association Launched
10:25 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

GamePolitics has noted the recent launch of the Entertainment Consumers Association. Unlike most game-related organizations, which focus on the creators, the ECA's objective is to serve as a platform for those who play games, and will seek to advocate on their behalf for various rights, public policy concerns, and anti-games legislation.

The ECA is headed up by Hal Halpin, the individual behind the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association. He had this statement to say regarding the founding of the ECA:

The ECA was created to fill a void that needed to be paid attention to… arguably the most important group within the interactive entertainment industry, the consumers. These individuals are the life-blood to this multibillion dollar industry yet they have been unrepresented, until now, which is exciting for myself and the rest of the ECA team as we are the organization that now allows their voices to be heard.
A non-profit organization, yearly dues are set at $20. Membership benefits include exposure to game-related job and educational opportunities, magazine discounts, and full access to the ECA community. More information can be found at the official ECA website.
