Peter Jackson Unhappy with Lord of the Rings Games 7:50 AM | Blake Buck | 6 comments
Gamespot recently posted an article about Peter Jackson, director of the famous Lord of the Rings (LOTR) trilogy, and his displeasure in the LOTR games. Jackson, who is rumored to be an avid gamer, recently switched developers from EA Games to Ubisoft for his latest game King Kong. From the gamespot article: That said, an article in Monday's edition of the New York Times (subscription required) said Jackson had another motivation for going with Ubisoft: Namely, he didn't like working with EA. The article, which dealt with how filmmakers are becoming increasingly enmeshed in game development, said that Jackson "chafed at his dealings with the industry heavyweight."The article also quoted Ken Kamins, Jackson's manager, as saying that "Electronic Arts was not interested in input from the filmmaker" but had no problem marketing the games as though he was closely involved in their making. As videogames and films become more closely linked, will conflicts between directors and developers such as this become more frequent?Tell us what you think about the merging of films and videogames by clicking the comment link above.
