Ambrosia Software has officially released Darwinia for Mac users. Originally created by Introversion Software, Darwinia puts players within a virtual universe populated by a sentient life form known as Darwinians, which must be protected against a rampaging viral infection.

Darwinia features a Tron-like environment, complete with fractal landscapes, sprites, and creation commands that are issued by tracing specific patterns with the mouse.

Nearly three years after taking the underground gaming scene by storm with Uplink, Introversion and Ambrosia Software have teamed up again to release Darwinia. Combining fast-paced action with strategic battle planning, Darwinia is a real-time strategy game like no other.
Those interested in trying this title out can download a free demo from MacGameFiles. The file is sized at around 32MB, and carries a shareware fee of $29.00.
