Europa Universalis IV: Wealth Of Nations Announced
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Paradox Interactive has announced Wealth of Nations, the second expansion to the empire building Europa Universalis IV, will be available for Mac, Windows, and Linux in the second quarter of this year. Among the additions the expansion will add is the ability to secretly provoke trade conflicts, the options to hire pirates to steal goods from competitors, and the chance to form an East India Company to create an unstoppable shipping concern.

Wealth of Nations will bring several new features to the game, focusing on trade, including the ability to secretly provoke trade conflicts, hire pirates to steal goods from your competitors, establish the East India Company and create a bustling trade capital for your nation. With several new possible ways to direct the wealth of the world into an empire’s coffers, Wealth of Nations will serve the needs of every gamer’s inner plutocrat.

Cold hard cash is king, may the richest empire win. Europa Universalis IV: Wealth of Nations will be given the (trade) stamp of approval for download from digital portals in Q2 2014.

The expansion will feature:

  • The Invisible Hand of the Market: You can act covertly to instigate trade conflicts among the competition, stifling income and leaving yourself atop the economic heap.
  • Seize the Seas: Hiring privateers can damage enemy shipments and cripple their trade, but risks retaliation in the form of open warfare if you are caught.
  • Capitalize: Empires can designate a specific port as their trade capital, separate from their national capital, and strengthen local trade routes through the use of inland trade nodes.
  • Monopolize and Mobilize: Form an East India Company and reach faraway trade partners with an unstoppable shipping concern.

Europa Universalis IV is the critically acclaimed empire-building strategy game that allows players to tell their own stories, determining the course of international events as they see fit. Whether a ruler rises to power via bloodshed and expansion, or simply conquers the market and buys out the competition, Europa Universalis welcomes tyrants of all types.

6:00 AM | IMG News | Comment on this story

TransGaming and 2K's The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is now available for purchase and download at Mac Game Store. Described as a third-person tactical shooter the game lets players experience the origin story of the XCOM organization and its war against invading alien species.

Set in 1962 at the height of the Cold War, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified tells the origin story of the underground XCOM organization and its clandestine war against an imposing alien threat. As a third-person tactical shooter, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified delivers a new experience using the classic XCOM formula by taking players out of the familiar god-like view of strategy games and dropping them into the boots special agent William Carter in the thick of combat. Using Carter’s “Battle Focus” ability, players control squad mates and launch calculated attacks in order to advance and gain the upper edge. As the last line of defense, the player’s every command can mean the difference between life and death for Carter, his squad and mankind.

Survive, adapt and overcome the enemy threat

    Uncover the mystery
Fight through the streets of 1960's America as you uncover the declassified truth behind mankind's first enemy invasion.

    Be the field leader

    Tactical Combat
Enter Battle Focus to slow down time and execute your next move, commanding your squad with a variety of tactical actions.

    No second chances
Pay the price for mistakes - permadeath will make you value your squad mates more than ever, and make losing one of them all the more painful.

    Strategic reflexes
Turn an enemy misstep into your strategic advantage. Give tactical commands on the fly to outsmart the enemy and make split-second decisions to save the lives of your squad.

    Customization that counts

Legend Of Grimrock II Features, Screens Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

In a new forum posting Almost Human has revealed some information about features planned for the sequel to the old school RPG dungeon crawler, Legend of Grimrock. The update includes information about the game's plot, explanations of updates and additions to the first game's systems, as well as a few screenshots from the game.

The events of Legend of Grimrock 2 will happen on the Isle of Nex, a secluded island faraway from civilization. An island is a perfect place to setup an unforgettable dungeon crawling experience because we can mix indoor and outdoor locations seamlessly while still maintaining that atmosphere of mystery and danger, and the density of interesting things that is at the heart of Grimrock. If you think about it, the island is the perfect microcosm, where the party may explore dark woods, misty swamps, underground tunnels and ancient ruins without need to travel great distances. For us, an island is the perfect “dungeon” with a welcome variety of different types of environments.

At the start of the game, a party of four prisoners has ended up on the island against their will and start to explore the island. Pretty soon they will realize that they are not alone on the island and that the island is not an ordinary island at all… What are the mysterious towers on the island and who built them? Why is the island full of puzzles and traps? The story of Grimrock 2 will not be a direct continuum to Grimrock 1, but will be a completely new story with new characters that will expand the Grimrock universe.

Wings Of Saint Nazaire Playable Alpha Available
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

An IMG reader recently emailed us about Wings of Saint Nazaire, an upcoming indie space combat game inspired by classic space shooters like the Wing Commander and X-Wing series. A browser based alpha version of the game was recently released to give the curious an idea of what Wings of Saint Nazaire will be like once it is completed.

What is Wings of Saint Nazaire?

Wings of Saint Nazaire is an action-orientated space simulation game reminiscent of titles such as Wing Commander™ and the X-Wing™ series. Check out our gameplay videos if you're looking to get a first impression on how the game looks, plays and feels. Wings is designed to be an easy-to-play but hard-to-master game - that means you can jump in, fly around, kick ass and have a ton of fun as a newbie but the game also offers core players enough gameplay depth to keep even the veterans of the genre interested. Good players, for example, will use the afterburner in very short bursts for super quick acceleration, they will use the correct weapons against the enemies they are facing and they will always be on top of their ship energy flow, making sure that the systems that need the most power in any given situation, get that power.

On what engine is the game running?

Wings is a Unity3D™ game!

This ensures that we can target virtually any platform we want to. Additionally, the Unity3D engine allows a very visual, fun way of working on games that helps keep up motivated. It also enables us to quickly throw together prototypes for new visual effects, gameplay ideas and so on.

On which platforms will the game be available? Will it be on Steam™?

Wings will definitely be released on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux - in addition, we can target consoles such as the Playstation 3™, the X-Box 360™ and the Ouya™. How many consoles and which consoles we target is not yet decided and also largely depends on whether or not we can afford the respective SDKs. We would absolutely love to see Wings of Saint Nazaire on Steam™, if it's possible at all, to reach the biggest possible audience.
