Scheduled to launch in late 2013, the Space Wolves chapter expansion will includes three missions based on the classic “Fangs of Fenris” campaign, that first introduced the ferocious warriors of the Wolf Guard into Space Hulk. “When it came to selecting the first expansion chapter for Space Hulk we felt that the introduction the Space Wolves would be both a great addition to the game, and a nod to the fact that our studio is based in the heart of Scandinavia – the Viking kingdoms of the past”, said Thomas Hentschel Lund, CEO of Full Control. “Devastatingly ferocious in attack and immovably resolute in defense, the Wolf Guard will be a fantastic addition to the Space Hulk universe introducing new gameplay styles and methodology into the classic turn based action”.The three mission campaign “Fangs of Fenris” uses the elite Wolf Guard Terminators of the Space Wolves chapter. The campaign was originally posted in White Dwarf magazine #200 from 1996, and is now making the leap to the digital game. The chapter will also introduce new weapons including the Frost Blade, Frost Axe and Wolf Claws. IMG Reviews SimCity 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Electronic Arts' SimCity for Mac. Development of the latest incarnation of the popular city building sim was led by Maxis. SimCity Mac features "the same deep, rich gameplay that will define the PC experience as players on both platforms compete or collaborate to create a new world, together." Here's an excerpt from the review: And continuing the trend of franchise reboots, some things are also simplified. You no longer have to run power lines or water pipes, and when you zone your areas, you don’t have to decide whether to zone for low, medium or high density, but more on that later. Another change is with police and fire services: formerly when, for instance, a fire broke out you had to deploy your fire engines. Now fires are automatically responded to and crime is investigated; the efficiency with which this is done is based on how much you’ve spent on fire trucks and police cars and where you’ve put them, not how fast you can click your units to the correct spot.On the negative side in simplification, you have significantly fewer options when you start your city. Gone is the ability to adjust mountains, trees and water, or any such adjustments. You have a small set of basic terrain types to start from, you pick one, and you start. I, as many before and after me, enjoyed creating particular types of scenarios, whether it was modeled on an actual city or to fit a vision I wanted to create, but alas, no more.
