IMG Reviews Q.U.B.E. 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Q.U.B.E. from KISS. In the game players manipulate colorful cubes in the environment to navigate each level. Q.U.B.E. challenges players with puzzles involving logic, physics, and platforming. Here's an excerpt: As you progress through the levels you are introduced to a number of different coloured or symbol covered tiles which perform different actions. These actions can range from the very simple to the very complex. For example, a simple action results from activating the red tile. When your character activates this tile it extends out at three different lengths horizontally or vertically depending on where the tile is. More complex actions would be the arrows which rotate the entire room. This is complicated further with some levels containing balls which have to be navigated through a room in order to pass through a goal. And, if you thought that was complicated, you even have to change the colour of the ball (and mix colours to have the right colour) to get it in the correct goal. Oh, and the lights go off in later levels. Read the full review at the link below.

Experience The Horror Of Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs 6:00 AM | IMG News | 6 comments
Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is now available. The first person horror title, developed by The Chinese Room for Frictional Games, is not a direct sequel to Frictional's original game, but does exist in the same universe. It takes place on New Year's Day 1899 in London and follows the experiences of Oswald Mandus, a man struggling to save his children. In 2010 Frictional Games terrified the world with the cult horror Amnesia: A Dark Descent. Now they bring you a new nightmare. Created in collaboration with The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is an intense and terrifying journey into the heart of darkness that lurks within us all. The year is 1899 Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus awakes in his bed, wracked with fever and haunted by dreams of a dark and hellish engine. Tortured by visions of a disastrous expedition to Mexico, broken on the failing dreams of an industrial utopia, wracked with guilt and tropical disease, he wakes into a nightmare. The house is silent, the ground beneath him shaking at the will of some infernal machine: all he knows is that his children are in grave peril, and it is up to him to save them. Step back into the horror Like The Dark Descent, this is a game driven by its story, exploration of the world and the constant fear of the unknown. You can expect classic Amnesia gameplay, physics interaction and the signature blend of high-end gaming with low system requirements. Think you understand fear? Think again. A Machine for Pigs takes both the world of Amnesia and the technology of The Dark Descent to new heights of horror. Built using an updated version of HPL2 engine, the game features stunning visual and environment design, incredible music and audio effects and adapted artificial intelligence. These are all driven by a gut-wrenching, blood-curdling new story, set sixty years after the events of the original game. Features: - Unique game created in collaboration between two independent game companies famous for exploring the outer reaches of what games can be.
- Fresh and new approach to the Amnesia world while staying true to its origins.
- Unique physics interaction that has been developed and improved since 2005.
- Exceptional artwork and environments that run on low system specifications.
- The darkest, most horrific tale ever told in a videogame.
- Stunning soundtrack by award-winning composer Jessica Curry.

Franchise Hockey Manager 2014 Updated 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
OOTP Developments, developer of the Out of the Park Baseball management sim series, has announced the release of a new update for Franchise Hockey Manager 2014. The game gives players the chance to take control of one of more than 300 teams spanning 19 leagues, and run every aspect of the operation. FHM 2014 also offers historical NHL play as far back as 1947 and the entire WHA history from 1971 to 1979. Here's a partial list of changes in version 1.0.3:
- Game should no longer crashes when clicking on names of players currently playing in non-playable leagues (e.g., in draft previews or during draft.)
- Fixed crashing when adding players to a trade, or moving scroll bar while looking at trade offers.
- Should now be possible to move the starting goalie to G2 position when switching goalies during a game.
- Rights issue when re-signing your own players resolved, should be possible to do this properly now.
- Swedish and Finnish relegation should work correctly now.
- Goalie shutouts and W-L-T now recorded properly.
- Computer-run teams should no longer make trade requests to the player that offer nothing in return.
- Custom mode inaugural drafts now scheduled for August to prevent conflicts with league formats that have an early start date.
- Custom mode games no longer crash on June 30-July 1 of first season (was due to improper setup of draft rules in nonplayable leagues.)
- Inaugural draft in custom mode should no longer force user to choose goalies first (this may occur in regular draft mode, though - discovered too late in testing to fix on this patch.)
