Wasteland 2 Attributes, Skills, Raider Portrait Revealed 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
In a new blog post InXile Entertainment's Chris Keenan recently offered new information about the company's upcoming post-apocalyptic Wasteland 2 RPG. In the new post the designer/producer revealed a list of character attributes and statistics players will be able to make use of in the game, as well as a new NPC portrait. When we began designing the skills, we started with the systems in Wasteland 1. We immediately removed any skills that we didn't feel were going to be represented well in the level designs. Each skill had to be something that was going to be used throughout the game. All skills that remained would need to be designed into multiple areas to make the cut. This in no way implies that all skills are used equally. Some skills are used in rare circumstances in Wasteland 2 and finding these uses brings an appropriate reward. Each starting skill has a formula that is derived from up to 3 attributes based on what would be necessary to be proficient in that skill. So initially, where you place your attribute points will determine the starting value of that skill. A character’s skills can be increased by leveling up, using that skill, and through specific items equipped on the character. For example, our current formula for Pick Lock is [10 + (1*Perception) + (2*Expertise)]. Depending on your starting attributes, your initial skill in Pick Lock can vary greatly. World Of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria Reviewed 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Mac|Life has posted a new review of Mists of Pandaria, the fourth expansion for Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft. Features of Mists of Pandaria include the introduction of the Pandaren as a playable race, the new martial arts focused Monk class, a level cap increase to 90, and a range of new content to explore. From the review: If you’re the type of fantasy role-playing gamer more accustomed to orcs and fearless paladins, sliding into the role of an anthropomorphic panda bear is admittedly difficult. But Blizzard has done a fantastic job of creating an engaging story around the Pandaren race. And the new, Asian-inspired continent, with its detailed shrines and stoic monks, may be some of Blizzard’s best work. But almost as soon as you’re drawn into this conflicted narrative and forced to take sides — Pandaren characters can align with Horde or Alliance — World of Warcraft’s quest system starts to drag. Mists of Pandaria is a marked improvement over the original pyramid-shaped quest setup, but it’s still so much back-and-forth. Head over to the page below for the full review.

Telepath Tactics Kickstarter Campaign In Progress 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Sinister Design's Craig Stern recently launched a Kickstarter funding campaing for the upcoming Telepath Tactics, seeking $25,500 to fund the completion of the game. The tactical RPG is set in a psionic powered steampunk universe full of unique races and constructs. It focuses combat on "terrain manipulation as much as it does position, facing, and powers." In Telepath Tactics the player will control an army of units, each with unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. As in other tactical RPGs, these characters will have a variety of direct combat abilities and stats, but that isn't where Telepath Tactics will shine. The real twist is found in the ability to manipulate the environment, building barricades and bridges, hurling boulders, destroying terrain to trap and limit your foes. In every match the entire face of the landscape may be changed by the time the battle is over. The uniqueness of Telepath Tactics doesn't stop there, however. The game will feature online and hotseat multiplayer, allowing players to compete online cross platform or in the same room. On top of that a complete set of mod tools will allow fans to create their own scenarios, powers, units, and entire campaigns, giving limitless possibilities to the battles you'll see. In what is often considered a single player genre will be a huge host of competitive, creative, and community functionality. Telepath Tactics needs the support of fans to become a reality and has set a reasonable goal of only $25,500 to make it happen. Without reaching this goal players may never know what it's like to toss their best friend off a cliff into a pit of lava, and wouldn't that be sad?
